Life-saving equipment donated to the club

“I don’t think words can say how grateful we will be, we are eternally grateful, it is absolutely amazing that they chose us.”
- Glen Clarence, Manager

Heanor Town FC were honoured to be presented with a defibrillator on Wednesday evening. The life-saving equipment, donated to the club by the Kellogg family.

Joe Kellogg died suddenly during a pre-season training session with local club Borrowash Victoria AFC and with the recent death of Dan Wilkinson, a young defender playing for Shaw Lane Aquaforce FC, it has prompted Lia Kellogg to petition The Football Association to provide a defibrillator for all football grounds.

The impact of losing a friend, team mate or relative through a heart condition is life changing.
The provision of a defibrillator will give Heanor Town Football Club and the local community a better chance of saving lives if an incident occurs.

A defibrillator can cost upwards of £1000 but putting a price on saving a life is impossible.
CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) shared that every week in the UK at least 12 people died of undiagnosed heart conditions. With this equipment at The Town Ground it will enable the club to help prevent sudden death due to heart conditions.

With social events and a new junior section to the football club, The Town Ground has regular use by the local community and it will be available for the people of Heanor if ever needed.

Manager Glen Clarence has said, “It has been highlighted in football, not just recently but also tragically for the Kellogg family.”
“Heanor as an area will benefit from the equipment. Let’s hope we never need to use it, but if it is ever needed then there is a defibrillator here that could potentially save the life of somebody.”
“Lia obviously has a petition for The Football Association and I agree with it. The money that is involved in football, a defibrillator costs a minimum of £800-900 and that is one minute’s wages for somebody.”
