It would be easy to say that it was an awful Heanor performance last Saturday against Anstey Nomads. Likewise it would save embarrassment if one were to say that Anstey were probably the best side to come to Heanor in the league this season. Unfortunately neither will help to take away the disappointment of the result.

Heanor have become virtually invincible at home. Indeed, they have suffered only six home defeats in their last 47 home league games and this is only their second in the last season and a half. Statistics which certainly tell how hard the team management and the players have worked to make the Town
Ground ‘Fortress Heanor Town’.

It wasn’t hard for those present to see why Anstey have put such a fine run of results together this season and rapidly moved up to fourth place in the table following their customary poor start to the campaign.

And having conceded 7-0, 8-0 and 9-0 defeats to the Lions in the last two seasons there was justified delight at the revenge extracted last Saturday.

As for the Lions, there were some suggestions that all the hype of the forthcoming Derbyshire FA Senior Challenge Cup Third Round tie at Chesterfield’s b2.net stadium was starting to rub off the management onto the players.

Heanor will need to put all that behind them for Saturday’s game at Graham Street Prims (3pm) if last week’s defeat is not going to be allowed to derail the title and promotion hopes.

No doubt the players and management will still remember last season’s defeat against Prims at the Asterdale in a midweek game and the reasons behind it. Amongst supporters that defeat last season still rankles as the one which cost the club the title and coming on top of the team’s first home defeat of the season it is clear that the management have a lot to do during the course of this week to lift the players back onto the rails.

Confirmation has now been received that the Derbyshire Senior Cup game against a Chesterfield XI will take place at the b2.net Stadium, 1866 Sheffield Road, Whittington Moor, Chesterfield, S41 8NX on Tuesday 13th December kick off 7.45pm.

Admission to the game will be Adults £5, concessions £2. Concessions will be adults over the age of 65 and children under 15.

I have been asked by the club’s supporters to report that in conjunction with the game they are running a coach. Departure time has yet to be finalised and more than 35 seats have already been taken. There is no football on the Town Ground on Saturday as the reserves have not been allocated a game.
