Lions fall to Radford
By Heanor Town Football Club
Heanor Town 0-2 Radford
The Lions tasted defeat for the first time since early September as they succumbed to mid-table Radford.
In an uncharacteristic performance, Heanor found themselves behind after just four minutes. Simon Hore getting free to nod home from a corner.
The Lions created few chances in the first half, Morgan Holloway the closest to equalising moments before half-time but his near post flick could only find the side netting.
Heanor were applying pressure to the Radford goal in the second half but to no avail. Debutante Tim Baker headed over moments after coming on then minutes later his shot hit the post before Radford cleared.
Ben Gough was doing his best to keep the Lions in the game as he produced a stunning save to deny Ryan Smith, who must’ve thought he’d doubled Radford’s advantage.
As Heanor pressed for the tying goal it was that man Smith who wrapped up the points for the visitors. Once again, Gough made a fine stop but the ball fell to the lurking frontman and he tapped in from close-range.
The Lions look to rebound against Belper United on Tuesday evening in the Jenkins & Jenkins League Cup.
