Lions maul high-flying Prims
By Heanor Town Football Club
Heanor Town 4-0 Graham Street Prims
A vintage second half performance earned three points for the Lions against high-flying Graham St Prims.
Heanor were on the front foot from the first whistle and nearly took the lead inside 20 seconds. Jamie Sleigh raced clear of the defence but he could only prod wide.
The Lions continued to press throughout the first half, Sleigh shooting wide before Sam Birks forced the ‘keeper into a smart save.
Heanor started the second half with purpose and were rewarded with a penalty after 49 minutes when Jamie Sleigh was brought down in the penalty area. Cory Bowler was given the responsibility but saw his effort saved by Andrew Fretwell before Kyle Daley headed the rebound over.
Supporters didn’t have to wait too long after for the opening goal, however. After a well-worked free-kick, skipper Daniel Chatfield converted at the back post.
Two minutes later, the lead was doubled. Daley was fouled in the penalty area for the Lions’ second penalty of the afternoon.
This time Jamie Sleigh assumed responsibility and he made no mistake from 12 yards.
Roles were reversed for Heanor’s third goal when Sleigh’s low cross was turned in by Kyle Daley.
The game was sealed with twelve minutes remaining when Oliver Pratt slammed home from Daley’s free-kick.
