Saturday 25th November 2023, from Coronation Park, Eastwood.
Match report by, Dan Kidd.
It was the hosts who created the first opening of the game. Pennington cut the ball back from the by-line, but Holliday was unable to get his first-time effort on target.
The Lions came close in the 21st minute, some nice play from August released Taylor, making his first start since returning from injury, who forced Robert’s into a smart save at his near post.
Belper made the breakthrough in the 29th minute, a ball into the box was cleared only as far as Holliday who volleyed the home side in front.
The Lions thought they had equalised 4 minutes later. A lovely ball from the right by Horne was smartly finished by Markelic but the linesman adjudged Heanor's top scorer to be offside.
Nice came close to levelling it 5 minutes before half time when his free kick from wide on the left had Roberts scrambling as he clawed the ball over the crossbar.
Both sides came out in the second half looking for goals, Holliday forced Alley into a good save before Markelic's 25-yard drive was narrowly over the Belper crossbar.
In the 70th minute, Belper had a chance to double their lead after a foul in the area won them a penalty. However, Coopers spot kick was superbly saved by Alley.
The Lions took full advantage of the missed spot kick and levelled the game in the 79th minute.
Nice made a good run forward and his left wind cross was met by the head of August at the back post to earn a point for The Lions.
