PRESENTATION NIGHT ROUND UP

PRESENTATION NIGHT ROUND UP

Tony Squires9 May 2015 - 23:56

What did they win?

A capacity crowd gathered at The Town Ground on Friday evening for the end of season awards evening.
The evening started with words from the Chairman, Geoff Clarence, and words of thanks and gifts were given to all the back room staff and volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the football club continues to function.
Awards were then handed to the reserve team squad. First team manager Glen Clarence praised the reserve team management for aiding the development of the young players, that work already showing with the introduction to first team football of a number of the reserve team squad.

The gathered crowd then took a break with the buffet being successfully demolished and fresh drinks stacked up ready for the second half of the evening.
A sports auction followed with a fantastic £581 raised – added to the auction ran by Ian Sharpe the final total is £2381.
During the auction everyone witnessed a special moment as coach Steve Huntington outbid all and won the signed Kieran Debrouwer shirt from 2013/14, he later presented the shirt to Debrouwer explaining to all that achievements in football aren’t always remembered. The gift was given so Debrouwer had something he could show future generations of his family, giving him a chance to share his remarkable goal scoring achievement at Heanor Town FC.

The veterans took centre stage with manager Paul Partington sharing kind words to the dedicated small squad he has at his disposal.

A final award was given, a new award for Heanor Town FC. The Ian Seal award, given in memory of Ian who gave his time to the club for a number of years. Ian would put the nets up, wash the kit, clean the changing rooms and do any other task that he was asked to do, never complaining and always doing the tasks to the very best of his ability. Ian sadly passed away just over a year ago after a battle with cancer. His daughter, Amanda Jones, the club secretary was honoured with the award, the recognition given for her constant hard work throughout the campaign.

Heanor Town FC do not need to advertise themselves as a community club, simply being at the end of season presentation night shows that perfectly.
