A Jamie Sleigh hat-trick helped the Lions to a sixth win in a row as they continue their surge up the East Midlands Counties League table.
Heanor started the game fast and Kyle Daley missed two golden opportunities inside the opening ten minutes, first he saw his shot saved by the Borrowash ‘keeper before shortly after shooting over from close range.
The Lions’ pressure paid off moments later when they took the lead through an unlikely source. Max Thornberry escaped the attention of the Borrowash defence before drilling home Jesse Vowles’ corner.
Jamie Sleigh made it 2-0 when he volleyed home Vowles’ cross.
Borrowash started the second half with much more purpose, but their style of play lacked the penetration to break Heanor down and the game was won when Thornberry added his second. Once again he beat the defence and was on-hand to convert Daley’s free-kick.
Jamie Sleigh made it 4-0 when he spun on the edge of the area and fired a volley into the bottom corner of the net.
The fifth goal arrived when Max McClead lobbed the ‘keeper from 30 yards for his first goal for the club.
Four minutes from time Jamie Sleigh completed hi s hat-trick, slotting home from the edge of the area after being found by Daley.
He had the opportunity to add his tally for the season shortly before the final whistle when Rueban Nwadike was fouled in the area but he put his spot kick wide.
